MEXICAN NATIONAL PLEADS GUILTY
TO ILLEGAL REENTRY
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Bradley J. Schlozman, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Mexican national pleaded guilty in federal court today to illegally reentering the United States after having been deported following his convictions of attempted rape and kidnaping.
Donaciano Alvizo-Trujillo, 31, a citizen of Mexico who was living in Overland Park, Kan., pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Ortrie D. Smith this afternoon to the charge contained in a Nov. 28, 2006, federal indictment.
Alvizo-Trujillo admitted that he illegally entered the United States after having been deported on March 1, 2002, following his incarceration for convictions of attempted rape and kidnaping in Johnson County, Kan. Alvizo-Trujillo was located in Kansas City, Mo., on Nov. 16, 2006.
Under federal statutes, Alvizo-Trujillo could be subject to a sentence of up to 20 years in federal prison without parole, plus a fine up to $250,000. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled after the completion of a presentence investigation by the United States Probation Office.
This case is being prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard N. Staples. It was investigated by the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department.
