KC MAN SENTENCED FOR CRACK COCAINE
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – John F. Wood, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Kansas City, Mo., man was sentenced in federal court today for possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine.
Marlon T. Gant, 31, of Kansas City, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Ortrie D. Smith this afternoon to 10 years in federal prison without parole.
On March 9, 2007, Gant pleaded guilty to possession with the intent to distribute more than five grams of crack cocaine. Gant was arrested on May 9, 2006, when police officers executed a search warrant at his residence. Officers discovered approximately 18 grams of crack cocaine in a kitchen cabinet and a box containing 41 live rounds of .45-caliber ammunition on top of an entertainment center in the living room.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jess E. Michaelsen. It was investigated by the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department.****************
