KC-NORTH MAN SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS
FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – John F. Wood, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Kansas City, Mo., man was sentenced in federal court today for publishing a notice of child pornography on the Internet.
Kevin C. Richardson, 41, of Kansas City, was sentenced before U.S. District Judge Scott O. Wright this morning to 15 years in federal prison without parole, followed by 10 years of supervised release.
On Sept. 12, 2006, Richardson pleaded guilty to causing notices offering to display, distribute, and reproduce child pornography to be published on the Internet between Jan. 15 and June 30, 2004. Richardson posted notices at several Yahoo! groups in which he offered to distribute child pornography.
In addition to trafficking in child pornography on the Internet, Richardson met a minor female online and enticed her into meeting him in person for illegal sexual intercourse on multiple occasions. The female victim is the daughter of a local police officer. Additionally, Richardson sought out and obtained positions with local organizations that work with sexual abuse victims who are minors and with latch-key children.
Richardson previously forfeited to the government the computer and related equipment used to commit the offense.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Cynthia L. Cordes. It was investigated by the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department.
