NICARAGUAN NATIONAL INDICTED FOR ILLEGAL REENTRY,
ASSAULTING A FEDERAL AGENT
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Bradley J. Schlozman, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Nicaraguan national was indicted by a federal grand jury today for illegally reentering the United States and for assaulting a federal law enforcement officer.
Augusto Rodriguez-Masis, 31, a citizen of Nicaragua residing in Kansas City, Mo., was charged in a two-count indictment returned by a federal grand jury in Kansas City.
Count One of the federal indictment alleges that Rodriguez-Masis, who was deported from the United States on Aug. 25, 2005, illegally reentered the country on Jan. 4, 2007.
Count Two of the federal indictment alleges that Rodriguez-Masis assaulted an agent of the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Jan. 8, 2007.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney William L. Meiners. It was investigated by the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
