PROJECT SAFE CHILDHOOD
CLAYCOMO MAN SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORN
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – John F. Wood, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Claycomo, Mo., man was sentenced in federal court today for possessing child pornography.
Jason Romdall, 28, of Claycomo, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Ortrie D. Smith this morning to five years and three months in federal prison without parole.
On May 2, 2007, Romdall pleaded guilty to being in possession of child pornography between Feb. 1 and July 1, 2003. Romdall admitted that he used a computer at his residence to receive child pornography over the Internet. More than 10, but fewer than 150 images of child pornography were found on Romdall’s computer, including several images that depicted children under the age of 12.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Katharine Fincham. It was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Project Safe Childhood
This case is being brought as part of Project Safe Childhood. In February 2006, Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales launched Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys Offices, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims.
