FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ELDON MAN INDICTED FOR
ILLEGAL AMMUNITION
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – John F. Wood, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that an Eldon, Mo., man was indicted by a federal grand jury today for illegally possessing ammunition.
Aleksandr Tadzhibayev, 26, a citizen of Uzbekistan residing in Eldon, was charged with being a felon in possession of ammunition in an indictment returned by a federal grand jury in Jefferson City.
Today’s indictment alleges that Tadzhibayev was in possession of 50 .45-caliber bullets and 10 loose Winchester .45 rounds on Oct. 17, 2007. Under federal law, it is illegal for anyone who has been convicted of a felony to be in possession of any firearm or ammunition. Tadzhibayev has a criminal felony conviction for forgery in Pettis County, Mo., in 2004, a criminal felony conviction for attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle in Clark County, Wash., in 2002, criminal felony convictions for possession of a controlled substance and possession of a stolen vehicle in Multnomah County, Ore., in 2001, and criminal felony convictions for possession of heroin and jumping bail in Clark County, Wash., in 1999.
Wood cautioned that the charge contained in this indictment is simply an accusation, and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charge must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jim Lynn. It was investigated by the Camden County, Mo., Sheriff’s Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Lake Ozark Major Case Squad and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
