THREATENING FBI AGENT

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – John F. Wood, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced today that a Marshfield, Mo., man has been sentenced in federal court for threatening a federal law enforcement agent.

Melvin Dwayne Henre, 42, of Marshfield, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Dean Whipple on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, to six years and five months in federal prison without parole.

On April 28, 2008, Henre pleaded guilty to threatening to assault and murder FBI Supervisory Senior Resident Agent Dean C. Bryant. Henre left dozens of voice mail messages at the FBI office in Springfield, Mo., which gradually grew more demanding and aggressive. Those messages became more threatening between Jan. 16 and March 19, 2008.

This case was prosecuted by Supervisory Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael S. Oliver. It was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
