SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – John F. Wood, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Florida man was sentenced in federal court today for robbing the Bank of America in Springfield.
Raymond Lynn Patterson, 46, of Florida, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Richard E. Dorr this morning to five years and 10 months in federal prison without parole. The court also ordered Patterson to pay $1,232 in restitution.
On Nov. 21, 2007, Patterson pleaded guilty to robbing Bank of America, 2940 S. Glenstone in Springfield, on Sept. 6, 2007. Patterson showed a robbery demand note to a bank teller, who provided him with the money from her cash drawer. Patterson took the money and walked out of the bank. Bank surveillance photographs were released to the news media, and Patterson was recognized by a Springfield police officer.
