METH, MARIJUANA, ILLEGAL FIREARMS
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – John F. Wood, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Mountain View, Mo., man was sentenced in federal court today for illegally possessing methamphetamine, marijuana and firearms.
Joseph Pulliam, 44, of Mountain View, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Ortrie D. Smith this afternoon to 15 years in federal prison without parole. Pulliam was sentenced as a career offender due to his prior felony convictions.
On Feb. 19, 2007, Pulliam was convicted at trial of being a felon in possession of firearms and of being in possession of methamphetamine and marijuana.
Pulliam was in possession of a New England Firearms 12-gauge shotgun and a Marlin .22-caliber rifle and ammunition. Under federal law, it is illegal for anyone who has been convicted of a felony to be in possession of any firearm or ammunition. Pulliam has prior felony convictions for unlawful use of a weapon, assault, arson, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a controlled substance. The firearms and narcotics were discovered during a search of Pulliam’s residence on Nov. 22, 2006.
This case was prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney James J. Kelleher. It was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
