PROJECT SAFE CHILDHOOD


GREENWOOD MAN SENTENCED TO 14 YEARS

FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY


            KANSAS CITY, Mo. – John F. Wood, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Greenwood, Mo., man was sentenced in federal court today for receiving and possessing child pornography.


            Ervin W. Sanders, 42, of Greenwood, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Scott O. Wright this morning to 14 years in federal prison without parole.


            On March 28, 2008, Sanders pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography over the Internet between Jan. 1, 2005, and Feb. 19, 2007. He also pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography on Feb. 19, 2007. Sanders received and possessed 640 images of child pornography, including images of minors under 12 years old and images with sadistic or violent content.


            This case was prosecuted by Executive Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel M. Nelson. It was investigated by the Greenwood, Mo., Police Department.
