MO Prescription Drug Abuse Summit

This summit is designed for law enforcement officials, physicians and pharmacists to increase understanding and awareness of the roles they play in developing a solution to the prescription drug abuse issues currently plaguing the state of Missouri. The intended re-sult is increased knowledge and improved relationships across these fields to help the state address these challenges in a progressive fashion.

VALOR Training is designed for front-line law enforcement to promote officer safety and help prevent injuries and deaths to law enforcement officers in the line of duty. In this training, participants will gain an understanding of emerging threats, including those posed by antigovernment criminal extremists, and learn techniques for anticipating and surviving a violent encounter. In addition, officers will learn how to identify concealed weapons and armed gunmen, and gain knowledge of the mental and physical skills required for high-risk tactical situations that may involve active shooters.

Enoch B. Morelock Award
We are also soliciting nominations for the Enoch B. Morelock Award to be given to an officer of outstanding moral character, service in law enforcement and involvement in their community.  The officer’s activity should be for the time period July 2011 through June 2012.  If you have an officer that you would like to nominate, please list their name, department and supervisor on a separate sheet of paper along with why you believe he/she should be considered for this award, and send to the LECC Executive Committee at the address above no later than July 6.  Please type or write legibly, if we can’t read it we can’t consider it.

The 9th annual Protect Our Children Midwest Area Conference will continue it’s fine tradition, and will focus on a wide range of topics dealing with child sexual abuse, on-line enticement, and child pornography; featuring national and local experts in these areas. This conference is an excellent opportunity for the various disciplines to build partnerships to benefit child victims, and contribute to a more effective investigation and prosecution.

This conference is designed to address the needs of law enforcement, prosecutors, victim service providers, probation/parole/correctional officers, judges, social workers, child advocates, and health care providers. Specific breakouts will be featured for the various disciplines engaged in assisting children victimized by sexual abuse.
