Informational: Federal Court Initial Appearance

Bill Mercer, United States Attorney for the District of Montana, announced today that during a federal court session in Great Falls, on July 20, 2009, before U.S. Magistrate Judge Keith Strong, the following individual appeared:

RAYNE WOLERY, a 30-year-old resident of Belgrade, made an initial appearance on a complaint alleging attempted sexual exploitation of children and attempted transfer of obscene material to minors. He is currently detained. If charged with these offenses, WOLERY faces possible penalties of a mandatory minimum of 15 years to 30 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and five years up to lifetime supervised release. Assistant U.S. Attorney Marcia Hurd is the prosecutor for the United States. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

A complaint is merely a written statement of the essential facts constituting the offenses charged.
