Informational: Federal Court Initial Appearance

The United States Attorney's Office announced that during a federal court session in Great Falls, on June 10, 2010, before U.S. Magistrate Judge Keith Strong, the following individual appeared:

ALEJANDRO ARTURO SCHOLZ, a 36-year-old resident of Helena, made an initial appearance on a complaint alleging sexual exploitation of children. He is currently detained. If charged with this offense, SCHOLZ faces possible penalties of 30 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and lifetime supervision. Assistant U.S. Attorney Marcia K. Hurd is the prosecutor for the United States. The investigation was a cooperative effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Helena Police Department, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation.

A complaint is merely a written statement of the essential facts constituting the offense charged.
