WILLOW SPRINGS MAN SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

GREENVILLE - United States Attorney George E.B. Holding announced that in federal court on October 13, 2009, that Senior United States District Judge Malcolm Howard sentenced MACON ALAN SHAW, 38, of Willow Springs, North Carolina, to 210 months’ imprisonment followed by five years of supervised release.

A Federal Grand Jury returned a Criminal Indictment on May 13, 2009. On July 9, 2009, SHAW pled guilty to transportation of child pornography.

Since November, 2004 , a federal agent, posing as a 14-year-old female and using yahoo IM, was contacted by SHAW, who was using the screen name “playfulcamguy2000." These conversations became overtly sexual and on May 18, 2006 and September 1, 2007, SHAW, sent multiple digital images of child pornography to the agent. The investigation led the investigators to SHAW through the IP address. A search warrant was executed on SHAW’s residence and two hard drives, a computer, and about 30 CD-R disks were seized. Through the investigation it was learned that SHAW obtained the child pornography primarily from an Internet site he called “LS-Models.” Forensic examination of the computer and the CDs revealed over 1,000 images of child pornography.
