rocky mount convicted felon sentenced for drug trafficking

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 27, 2012

GREENVILLE - United States Attorney Thomas G. Walker announced that on November 13, 2012, Senior United States District Judge Malcolm J. Howard sentenced PHILLIP DWAYNE ADCOCK TAYLOR, 45, of Rocky Mount, North Carolina to 135 months imprisonment followed by 8 years supervised release.

A Federal Grand Jury returned a Criminal Indictment on February 18, 2012.  On July 9, 2012, ADCOCK pled guilty to one count of Conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute five hundred (500) grams or more of cocaine in violation of Title 21 United States Code, Section 841(a)(1).

According to the investigation, ADCOCK began selling powder cocaine immediately after being released from federal prison in 2007 for being convicted of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute five hundred grams or more of cocaine.   From about 2007 until January 19, 2011, ADCOCK distributed cocaine in the Eastern District of North Carolina and elsewhere.  On January 19, 2012, ADCOCK was stopped by deputies with the Nash County Sheriff’s Office and he was found in possession of one ounce of powder cocaine.  The deputies then executed a search warrant at ADCOCK’S residence and found four more ounces of cocaine and assorted paraphernalia.  The defendant waived his rights and gave a statement admitting to owning the cocaine and attributing twenty-two ounces of cocaine to himself dating back to 2007.

Investigation of this case was conducted by the Nash County Sheriff’s Office.  Assistant United States Attorney Eric Goulian prosecuted the case for the government.
