SALISBURY MAN SENTENCED ON GUN CHARGES
Ordered to Serve 210 Month Prison Term

GREENSBORO, NC - KAREEM JAHMAL HORTON of Salisbury, North Carolina, has been sentenced to 210 months in federal prison on two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Anna Mills Wagoner, United States Attorney for the Middle District of North Carolina, announced the sentencing. HORTON, age 27, was sentenced on July 16, 2009, in Greensboro, before United States District Judge William L. Osteen, Jr. In December 2008, a federal grand jury indicted HORTON. On March 26, 2009, HORTON was convicted on both counts of the indictment after a three day jury trial. Judge Osteen sentenced HORTON to 210 months imprisonment, three years supervised release, and a $200 special assessment.

The case against HORTON was investigated by the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Salisbury Police Department.
