On Wednesday, March 26, 2014, Charlotte Mayor, Patrick D. Cannon, was arrested by FBI agents for alleged violations of federal public corruption laws. The federal criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court, charged Cannon, 47, of Charlotte, with theft and bribery concerning programs receiving federal funds, honest services wire fraud and extortion under color of official right.
