JOHN PETER BRADLEY INDICTED FOR FEDERAL FIREARMS VIOLATION ASHEVILLE, NC—John Peter Bradley, 49, of Asheville, was indicted by a federal grand jury, sitting in Asheville, on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 on one count alleging a violation of the federal firearms laws.
Today’s announcement is made by Acting U.S. Attorney Edward R. Ryan, Zebedee T. Graham, Special Agent in Charge of the ATF for North and South Carolina, and William Hogan, Chief, Asheville Police Department. The prosecution is being handled for the government by Assistant U.S. Attorney Don Gast of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Asheville. According to the indictment, on April 2, 2008, in Buncombe County, having been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, that being assault on a female, said conviction having been entered in Superior Court for the State of North Carolina in Buncombe County on or about March 29, 2007, Bradley did knowingly and intentionally possess in and affecting commerce a firearm, that being a Sig Sauer, model P220, .45 caliber pistol, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 922(g)(9). If convicted, Bradley faces a maximum statutory penalty of ten years’ imprisonment.
The charge contained in the indictment is only an allegation. In the American justice system, a person is presumed innocent unless and until he or she is proven guilty at trial or by guilty plea.
