
Belcourt Man Pleads Guilty to False Statements
BISMARCK - U.S. Attorney Timothy Q. Purdon announced that on
March 15, 2012, Robin Peltier Jr., a/k/a Rocky Peltier Jr., 23, Belcourt, N.D., pleaded
guilty in U.S. District Court to a charge of false statements in an investigation of a sexual
assault.
In a plea agreement, Peltier admitted to lying about his presence in a motor vehicle
in the Belcourt area on February 28, 2010, and Peltier admitted to lying about engaging in
a sexual act with another person.
The charge of false statements carries a statutory maximum penalty of eight years
in federal prison and a $250,000 fine.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau
of Indian Affairs - Turtle Mountain Agency.
Sentencing for Peltier has been scheduled for May 14, 2012, in U.S. District Court
in Minot, N.D., at 11:00 a.m.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandi Sasse Russell is prosecuting the case.
