
Belcourt Man Sentenced for False Statements
MINOT - U.S. Attorney Timothy Q. Purdon announced that on
June 25, 2012, Robin Peltier Jr., a/k/a Rocky Peltier Jr., 23, Belcourt, N.D., was
sentenced by U.S. District Judge Daniel L. Hovland on a charge of false statements in an
investigation of a sexual assault. Peltier pleaded guilty to the charge on March 15, 2012.
Judge Hovland sentenced Peltier to one year and nine months in federal prison, to
be followed by three years of supervised release. Peltier was ordered to pay a $100
special assessment to the Crime Victim’s Fund.
In a plea agreement, Peltier admitted to lying about his presence in a motor vehicle
in the Belcourt area on February 28, 2010. Peltier also admitted to lying about engaging
in a sexual act with another person.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau
of Indian Affairs - Turtle Mountain Agency.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandi Sasse Russell prosecuted the case.
