
Belcourt Man Sentenced for Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury
MINOT - U.S. Attorney Timothy Q. Purdon announced that on October 29, 2012, Jeffrey L. McCloud, 48, of Belcourt, N.D., was sentenced by U.S. District Judge
Daniel L. Hovland on a charge of assault resulting in serious bodily injury. McCloud
pleaded guilty to the charge on July 16, 2012.
Judge Hovland sentenced McCloud to two years in federal prison, to be followed
by two years of supervised release. McCloud was ordered to pay $351.70 in restitution
and a $100 special assessment to the Crime Victim’s Fund.
On July 9, 2011, McCloud struck a woman in the face, knocking her unconscious
and knocking out her tooth.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs - Turtle
Mountain Agency.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandi Sasse Russell prosecuted the case.
