Macy Woman Sentenced For Assault With A Dangerous Weapon

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 4, 2012

United States Attorney Deborah R. Gilg announced that on June 4, 2012, Chief United States District Judge Laurie Smith Camp  sentenced Olivia Saunsoci, age 50 of Macy, Nebraska, to a term of imprisonment of one year and one day for her conviction for assault with a dangerous weapon.  Saunsoci was further ordered to serve three years on supervised release following her release from prison.

On September 4, 2011, Saunsoci allowed several minors to party at her residence on the Omaha Indian Reservation.  At some point during the evening, a fight broke out among the minors and continued outside of the residence.  Saunsoci went outside when she realized a relative might have been involved.  Saunsoci carried a sharp kitchen knife with her as she exited the residence.  Saunsoci began swinging the knife and struck a juvenile male on the neck and hand.  The juvenile victim suffered only minimal bodily injuries which did not require surgery.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
