North Platte Man Sentenced for Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine

June 18, 2012

United States Attorney Deborah R. Gilg announced that on June 18, 2012, Joseph Panek, 29, of North Platte was sentenced to 87 months in prison for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.  Panek was held responsible for the distribution of at least 350 grams (12 ½ ounces) of a mixture containing methamphetamine between August of 2010, and August of 2011.  Following the prison term, Panek will serve five years on supervised release.

This case was investigated by the CODE Task Force which is made up of law enforcement agencies throughout a 22-county area in west-central/southwest Nebraska and includes the North Platte Police Department, Dawson County Sheriff's Office, Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Red Willow County Sheriff's Office, Frontier County Sheriff's Office, Nebraska State Patrol, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
