
Union county, n.J., man admits robbing seven tD banks

TRENTON, N.J. – A Union County, N.J., man today admitted robbing seven branch locations of TD Bank throughout New Jersey from September 2011 to December 2011, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced.
Julio Ferrer, 28, of Elizabeth, N.J., pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Joel A. Pisano in Trenton federal court to an Information charging him with seven counts of bank robbery.

In every robbery, Ferrer passed handwritten demand notes to bank tellers. He admitted using a fake gun in the robbery of the TD Bank in Edison. Ferrer was on supervised release from a prior federal bank robbery conviction when he began his robbery spree.
The bank robbery charge is punishable by a maximum potential penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, or twice the gain to the defendant from the offense or loss to any victims. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 27, 2012.
U.S. Attorney Fishman credited special agents of the FBI, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Michael B. Ward in Newark, and the police departments of Westfield, Roselle, Rahway, Metuchen, Edison, Union and Princeton, with the investigation that resulted in today’s guilty plea.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jane H. Yoon of the U.S. Attorney’s Office Health Care & Government Fraud Unit in Newark.
