Motor Vehicles Employee Sentenced to Year in Prison for Taking Cash to Produce Fraudulent Drivers Licenses
CAMDEN - A former employee of the New Jersey Division of Motor Vehicle Services was sentenced today to 12 months in prison for conspiring to unlawfully produce drivers licenses and receiving between $100 and $200 per bogus license, U.S. Attorney Christopher J. Christie announced.
Sheilina D. Moore, 28, of Clementon, pleaded guilty on Jan. 16, 2004, admitting that she conspired with Linda Love, another DMV employee, as well as other agency and non-agency employees, to produce and sell fraudulent drivers licenses.
U.S. District Judge Freda L. Wolfson ordered Moore to surrender within 30 days to the federal Bureau of Prisons to begin serving her sentence. Judge Wolfson also ordered Moore to serve three years of supervised release upon completion of her prison sentence. There was no fine.
At her plea hearing, Moore admitted that she and her co-conspirators generated more than 100 fraudulent licenses, all from the Mount Holly DMV office.
Judge Wolfson sentenced Love, of Willingboro, to 30 months in prison on April 6. Love, also had pleaded guilty to conspiracy, was an examination technician at the Mount Holly office. Moore was a customer service representative at the same location.
The federal investigation of license fraud at the state DMV offices has resulted in a total of 11 guilty pleas, including those of Moore and Love. Moore and Love are the first to be sentenced. The investigation focused on fraud at the Mount Holly, Elizabeth and Springfield offices, as well as other locations.
Christie credited Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Newark, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Leslie Wiser, Jr., for their work in developing the case.
The Government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian R. Howe of the U.S. Attorney's Special Prosecutions Unit in Newark.
