wayne county man sentenced for selling counterfeit sons of anarchy merchandise
BUFFALO, N.Y.- U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced today that Ryan Breen, 33, of Savannah, N.Y., who was convicted of selling counterfeit items from the popular FX Network Television series "Sons of Anarchy," was sentenced to five months in prison and five months home confinement by U.S. District Court Judge Richard J. Arcara. The defendant was also ordered to pay $5,394.15 in restitution to Twentieth Century Fox Entertainment Group, the producer and exclusive owner of the Sons of Anarchy TV series and its logos.
According to Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Fauzia K Mattingly, who handled the case, Breen was identified as the owner and operator of various web sites which offered for sale over the Internet customized counterfeit t-shirts and goods using the Sons of Anarchy trademark without the permission of Fox. The defendant's web sites were seized by federal agents as part of a nationwide crackdown aimed at combating intellectual property theft.
