Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee (LECC)

The District's Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee (LECC) enhances the coordination of local, state and federal resources in order to promote more effective law enforcement. The LECC was established in all 93 U.S. Attorney's Offices by order of the U.S. Attorney General on July 21, 1981. In this District, the LECC is under the chairmanship of the U.S. Attorney and is staffed by an LEC Manager and his assistant.

Currently the LECC has a 27-member Central Committee representing state, federal and local law enforcement from all parts of the district. There are also ten active subcommittees that meet periodically and concentrate on specific areas of concern in the district. They include Asset Forfeiture, Bankruptcy Fraud, Computer Crimes, Corporate Fraud, Health Care Fraud, Insurance Fraud, Northeast and Northwest Environmental Crimes Working Groups, Project Safe Neighborhoods and Victim/Witness.

The LEC Manager disseminates information about the current criminal justice concerns in the District. He acts as a liaison between law enforcement and various components of the Department of Justice including, but not limited to, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS), and the Community Capacity Development Office (CCDO). He also assists the U.S. Attorney in developing strategies to implement priorities established by the Attorney General. Recent initiatives include Reentry, the Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council, Weed and Seed, and Project Safe Neighborhoods, a nationwide Presidential initiative to reduce gun violence. The LEC Manager serves as the Chief Information Officer for the District's Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council and is responsible for leading the communications, information sharing and training efforts.

Craig Tame , LEC Manager, is the point of contact for law enforcement and the community. For information or assistance, please feel free to contact Craig at (216) 622-3644 or by e-mail at USAOHN.LECC@usdoj.gov.
