Brandon Shingleton, age 22, of Youngstown, Ohio, was charged with wire fraud

Steven M. Dettelbach, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, today announced that an information was filed charging the crime of wire fraud, against Brandon Shingleton, age 22, of Youngstown, Ohio.

The information alleges that from on or about December 30, 2007, to on or about February 9, 2008, Brandon Shingleton obtained cellular telephones fraudulently, which he then sold to innocent buyers on the internet through the eBay auction website with payments processed by PayPal by wire transfers and payable to the defendant.

The investigation was conducted by the Youngstown division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

If convicted, the defendant's sentence will be determined by the court after review of factors unique to this case, including the defendant’s prior criminal record, if any, the defendant’s roles in the offense and the characteristics of the violation.

In all cases, the sentences will not exceed the statutory maximum and in most cases it will be less than the maximum.
