Cincinnati
has a long history as a major Ohio River shipping center and
was a terminus for the Underground Railroad in the 19th-century
United States. Cincinnati was incorporated as a city in 1819,
and in 1869 it became the home to the first professional baseball
team, the Red Stockings, now known as the Cincinnati Reds.
