Office Information

Columbus - Headquarters

The Southern District of Ohio's Columbus office serves as the main office for the district as well as the location for the Office's Administration Division and the District's Health Care Fraud Task Force.

Columbus is Ohio's largest city with a population of 711,470 and is the nation's 15th largest city, according to the 2000 Census.

The city of Columbus was founded in 1812 and has served as the state capital since 1816. Helping to facilitate the city's population growth has been the city's tremendous land area expansion. Annexation has enabled the city to grow from 39.9 square miles in 1950 to over 212.6 square miles today.

Columbus also serves as the county seat of Franklin County and is home to the main campus of The Ohio State University. Columbus sits in the geographic center of Ohio and, thanks to an extensive transportation network, is less than an eight-hour drive from 60 percent of the United States' population.
