Westville Man Sentenced To 12 Months Probation, $1,000.00 Fine For Possession Of A Bald Eagle

Muskogee, Oklahoma - The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, announced that CHARLES McFADDEN, age 34, of Westville, Oklahoma, was sentenced to a $1,000 fine and 1 year of probation for a Criminal Information charging him with possession of a Bald Eagle, in violation of Title 16, United States Code, Section 668(a).

The charge arose from an investigation by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service. The defendant pled guilty on November 29, 2012.

The Information alleged that between September 2011 and March 2012, in the Eastern District of Oklahoma, the defendant, did knowingly, or with wanton disregard for the consequences of his act, possess a bald eagle commonly known as the American eagle or any golden eagle, alive or dead, in violation of Title 16, United States Code, Section 668(a).

The Honorable Kimberly E. West, Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, presided over the hearing.

Assistant United States Attorney Kyle Waters represented the United States.
