Wagoner Man Sentenced To 24 Months Probation For Disposal Of Mortgaged Cattle

Muskogee, Oklahoma - The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, announced that SHERROD A. HORNBUCKLE, age 35, of Wagoner, Oklahoma, was sentenced to 24 months of probation for Disposal of Mortgaged Property, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 371. HORNBUCKLE was also ordered to pay $52,074.00 in restitution.

Charges arose from an investigation by the United States Department of Agriculture, Office of Inspector General. The defendant was charged and pled guilty in February, 2013.

The Information alleged that during the period of on or about September 15, 2009 to on or about April 4, 2010, within the Eastern District of Oklahoma, the defendant knowingly and with intent to defraud, did willfully conceal, remove, dispose of, or converted to his own use certain property, to-wit: cattle, having a value in excess of $1,000.00, and which was, at the time of said disposition, mortgaged, pledged to and held by, United States Department of Agriculture - Farm Service Agency.

The Honorable Ronald A. White, District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, presided over today’s hearing.

Assistant United States Attorney Edward Snow represented the United States.
