Poteau Woman Pleads Guilty To $59,000 Federal Program Theft

Muskogee, Oklahoma - The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, announced that JENNIFER CAMPBELL, age 45, of Poteau, Oklahoma, pled guilty to an Information charging her with Federal Program Theft, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 666.

The charges arose from an investigation by the Poteau Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The Information alleged that from in or about March 2010 to in or about July 2012, within the Eastern District of Oklahoma, the defendant, JENNIFER CAMPBELL, being an employee of the Carl Albert State College, said organization receiving each year benefits in excess of $10,000 from the United States, embezzled, stole, and intentionally misapplied property worth $59,000 which was under the care, custody and control of such organization.

The Honorable Kimberly E. West, Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the defendant’s guilty plea, and ordered the completion of a presentence report. Upon its completion, sentencing will be scheduled. The defendant was released on a personal recognizance bond pending sentencing.
