Thomas Scott Woodward
Mr. Woodward was appointed as the United States Attorney by the Chief Judge for the Northern District of Oklahoma on May 25, 2010. Previously, he had held the office in an acting and interim capacity since June 2009.
Mr. Woodward is a veteran federal prosecutor who has been practicing law for 28 years, beginning his career as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of Texas. From 1985-1987, Mr. Woodward served as Chief of the Civil Rights Division, and from 1987-1990, he served as Chief of the Criminal Division until he relocated to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Oklahoma in Tulsa. In 1992, Mr. Woodward was designated as Senior Litigation Attorney for the Northern District of Oklahoma. Since 1995, he has served as the First Assistant U.S. Attorney, periodically serving terms as the interim and acting U.S. Attorney and now as Court appointed U.S. Attorney.
Mr. Woodward served as a member of the Department of Justice Attorney Critical Incident Response Group (ACIRG) beginning in 1998. As a member of ACIRG, Mr. Woodward served in the command center as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Utah during the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. Mr. Woodward received a Special Commendation for Outstanding Service in 1984, the Director’s Award for Executive Achievement in 2000, and the Director’s Award for Superior Performance in 2003.
Scott Woodward received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas in 1972. In 1976, he received his Doctorate in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, Texas, and his Juris Doctorate in 1981 from Oklahoma City University College of Law
