Criminal Division

The Criminal Division is responsible for prosecuting violations of federal criminal laws. The Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) work closely with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to enforce federal criminal laws in all 40 counties that are part of the Western District of Oklahoma. AUSAs are responsible for all phases of criminal prosecution including providing guidance to law enforcement officers, initiating criminal charges, conducting trials and handling appeals.

The Criminal Division is responsible for a wide variety of prosecutions including terrorism, national security matters, foreign counter intelligence, economic espionage, gangs, drugs, guns, bank robberies, public corruption, financial fraud, corporate fraud, health care fraud, internet fraud, identity theft, child pornography, counterfeiting, postal offenses, regulatory offenses, and offenses occurring in Indian Country.

The prevention and disruption of terrorism is the top priority of the Department of Justice and the United States Attorney’s Office. To meet the challenges posed by terrorism, the Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council (ATAC), directed by the United States Attorney’s Office, works with federal, state and local representatives to coordinate anti-terrorism initiatives, initiate training programs and facilitates information sharing.
