Eugene Man Sentenced to 15 Years in Federal Prison for Illegal Possession of Firearm

Eugene, Ore. - Robert Darrell Bucholz, 39, of Eugene, Oregon, was sentenced today in U.S. District Court by the Honorable Ann Aiken to 180 months in prison and a five year term of supervised release based on his previous guilty plea to being a felon in possession of a firearm and an armed career criminal.

While investigating a report of someone trying to sell stolen property, Springfield police officers contacted Bucholz and found him to be in possession of property taken during recent burglaries along with two firearms:  an H & R Revolver, Model 949, .22 caliber pistol, and a stolen Cobra enterprises Derringer .22 caliber pistol.  Bucholz confessed to police that he had stolen the loaded derringer found in his pocket.  Officers then discovered a second loaded handgun under the driver’s seat of Bucholz’s vehicle.  Bucholz has prior felony convictions which include burglary, robbery, forgery and possession of firearms.  Springfield police officers along with agents of the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms investigated the case, which was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Kirk A. Engdall.
