July 11, 2007 - United States Attorney Patrick L. Meehan today announced the filing of a six-count indictment* charging Kenneth Thompson, a/k/a “Ken Rock,” a/k/a “KR,” Romel Bolger, a/k/a “Romez Bolger,” a/k/a "Big Hommie," a/k/a "BH," a/k/a "Damir Miller," a/k/a "James McCarty," a/k/a “Charles Connor,” and Latoya Johnson Kirkland with conspiring with each other and others known and unknown to the grand jury first, to possess with the intent to distribute approximately 61 kilograms of cocaine and approximately 131 grams of crack cocaine, and second, to control and manage a house for the purpose of unlawfully storing, distributing and possessing with intent to distribute controlled substances. In addition, defendants Thompson and Bolger have been charged with aiding and abetting each other and others known and unknown to the grand jury to possess with the intent to distribute cocaine and crack cocaine, and possession of firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking. Defendant Thompson is further charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

If convicted on Count One, defendants Thompson, Bolger and Kirkland face a maximum of life imprisonment, a mandatory minimum of 10 years imprisonment, 5 years supervised release, and a $4,000,000 fine. If convicted on Count Two, defendant Thompson, Bolger, and Kirkland face a maximum of twenty years imprisonment, 3 years supervised release, and a $500,000 fine. If convicted on Counts Three and Four, defendants Thompson and Bolger face maximum of life imprisonment, a mandatory minimum of 10 years imprisonment, 5 years supervised release, and a $4,000,000 fine. If convicted on Count Five, defendants Thompson and Bolger face a maximum of life imprisonment and a mandatory minimum consecutive sentence of 5 years imprisonment, 5 years supervised release and a $250,000 fine. If convicted on Count Six, defendant Thompson faces a maximum of ten years, 3 years of supervised release, a $250,000 fine. There is a $100 special assessment for each count.

This case arises from the seizure of approximately 61 kilograms of cocaine and approximately 131 grams of crack cocaine from 1053 Levick Street following a shooting on November 24, 2006. Further, four firearms were seized during the investigation of this case.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Philadelphia Police Department, and has been assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Karen S. Marston.
