United States Attorney's Office News Release

 

March 23, 2007 - United States Attorney Patrick L. Meehan and Philadelphia District Attorney Lynne Abraham today announced the filing of a four-count indictment* charging, defendant MANTIEO HAYWOOD, a/k/a “Mantiez Haywood,” a/k/a “Michael Feltch,” with two count of distributing 5 grams or more of “crack” cocaine, one count of distributing 5 grams or more of “crack” cocaine within 1000 feet of a school, and one count of possession with intent to distribute 5 grams or more of “crack” cocaine. The indictment alleges that on January 18, 2007 and February 13, 2007, HAYWOOD distributed a total of approximately 77.9 grams of “crack” cocaine, and on February 21, 2007 was in possession of approximately 40.9 grams of “crack” cocaine with intent to distribute it.

This indictment is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, an initiative by the United States Attorney’s Office, Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, the Drug Enforcement Administration to identify and prosecute drug offenders in federal court, where the defendants are likely to receive a substantial sentence upon conviction. If convicted, the defendant faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, with a mandatory minimum of 10 years incarceration, a minimum of 16 years up to a lifetime supervised release, a $20,000,000 fine, and a $400 special assessment.
