United States Attorney's Office News Release

 

May 9, 2007 - United States Attorney Patrick L. Meehan today announced that an indictment* was returned charging Randolph Ginyard with one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(1). This charge arises out of an August 11, 2006 incident in which Ginyard, a Philadelphia resident who had previously sustained multiple felony convictions, shot himself in the leg with a Ruger pistol.

If convicted the defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of life imprisonment with a 15-year statutory mandatory minimum term of imprisonment, 5 years of supervised release, $250,000 fine and $100 special assessment.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and has been assigned to AUSA Paul G. Shapiro.
