May 16, 2007 - United States Attorney Patrick L. Meehan and Philadelphia District Attorney Lynne Abraham today announced the filing of a three-count indictment* charging that on
April 23, 2007, Maurice Jeter, AKA Maurice Montgomery possessed three firearms in Philadelphia, after having been convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year in prison.

The case was investigated by the Philadelphia Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and the Federal Bureau of Investigations, and is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, an initiative by the United States Attorney’s Office, Philadelphia County District Attorney’s Office, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Philadelphia City Police Department to identify and prosecute firearms offenders in federal court, where the defendant is likely to receive a substantial sentence upon conviction. The case has been assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Marianne Cox.
