Charged In Four Bank Robberies
Frank Roccia, 32, of Philadelphia, PA and Wilmington, DE, was charged today by information with four counts of bank robbery, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger. According to the information, Roccia robbed four banks in northwest Philadelphia between August 30, 2011 and September 7, 2011, and obtained a total of approximately $5,442 in U.S. currency. Roccia allegedly handed notes to tellers at each of the four banks demanding money and threatening violence if the tellers did not give him money. The information alleges that the robberies occurred at : (1) a branch of Continental Bank located at 7133 Ridge Avenue; (2) a branch of Wells Fargo Bank located at 6918 Ridge Avenue; (3) a branch of Citizens Bank located at 6052 Ridge Avenue; and (4) a branch of TD Bank branch located at 4020 City Avenue.
If convicted of all charges, the defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of 80 years imprisonment, three years supervised release, a fine of up to $1 million and a $400 special assessment.
The case was investigated by the FBI and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mark B. Dubnoff.
