Charges Allege Felon In Possession
Charles Thompson, 29, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was charged today by Indictment with two counts of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger. The indictment alleges that on June 21, 2010, Thompson was in possession of a Norinco SKS semi-automatic rifle, a loaded Smith & Wesson .40 caliber handgun, a Remington 30-06 rifle and ammunition for the weapons.
If convicted the defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of 20 years incarceration, a $500,000.00 fine, and three years supervised release.
The case was investigated by the Darby Borough Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. It is being prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Thomas Moshang III.
