Indictment Alleges Conspiracy And Counterfeiting

Edgar Winsett, 48, and Jose Navarro, 46, both of Philadelphia, were charged by indictment with conspiring to manufacture and deal in counterfeit $20 and $50 Federal Reserve Notes, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger. According to the indictment, Winsett and Navarro produced approximately $10,820 in counterfeit notes and sold them to another individual for over $1500.

If convicted, each defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of 125 years’ imprisonment, 3 years supervised release, a $1.75 million fine, and a $700 special assessment.

The case was investigated by the United States Secret Service and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Denise S. Wolf.
