woman sentenced in fraud case

Hattie Gause, a/k/a “Hattie Taylor,” 72, of Philadelphia, PA was sentenced today to 10 months home confinement, 5 years probation, full restitution of $87,948, and special assessment of $200. Ms. Gause pled guilty on March 23 to charges of one count of theft of government funds, and one count of Social Security fraud, in connection with her scheme to collect survivor benefits under a false name and Social Security Number, for a man to whom she was never married.

The case was investigated by the Social Security Administration, Office of Inspector General, and was prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Amanda R. Reinitz.
