pair Charged With Counterfeiting
Jerry Alexander, 47, of Darby, PA, and Lea Vance, 33, of Philadelphia, PA, were charged by Indictment, unsealed yesterday, with conspiracy to possess and pass counterfeit United States Currency, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger. Alexander was also charged with one count of manufacturing counterfeit United States Currency and 14 counts of possessing, passing, and aiding and abetting the possessing and passing of counterfeit United States Currency. Vance was charged with one count of possessing and passing counterfeit United States Currency. Vance was arrested yesterday.
Alexander faces a possible sentence of up to 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $4 million, and a $1,600 special assessment. Vance faces a possible sentence of up to five years in prison, a fine of up to $500,000, and a $200 special assessment.
The case was investigated by the United States Secret Service, the Pennsylvania State Police, the Lower Providence Police Department, the Springfield Township (Delaware County) Police Department, and the Swarthmore Police Department. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michael S. Lowe.
