Charged With Theft of Government Funds

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hattie Gause, a/k/a “Hattie Taylor,” 72, of Philadelphia, PA was charged yesterday by Information with one count of theft of government funds, and one count of Social Security fraud, in connection with her scheme to collect survivor benefits that she was not entitled to, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger.

If convicted the defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of 15 years imprisonment; 3 years of supervised release; a $500,000 fine; restitution of $87,948.00; and a $200 special assessment.

The case was investigated by the Social Security Administration, Office of Inspector General, and is being prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Amanda R. Reinitz.
