philadelphia police officer Charged in drug fraud
PHILADELPHIA – An indictment was unsealed today charging Andre Lamont Daniels, 41, a Philadelphia Police Officer, with acquiring a controlled substance by fraud and related charges, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger. According to the indictment, Daniels, who is from Philadelphia, acquired oxycodone by presenting, or aiding and abetting the presentation of fraudulent prescriptions on 14 separate occasions between June 2009 and January 2010.
If convicted of all counts, Daniels faces a maximum sentence of 56 years imprisonment, a $3,500,000 fine, and a $1400 special assessment.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Randall P. Hsia.
