June 14, 2006 - United States Attorney Patrick L. Meehan today announced that the grand jury returned an 8-count indictment* charging KAREEM MILLHOUSE and TERRANCE HAWKINS with armed bank robbery, Hobbs Act robbery, and carrying a firearm during such robberies. The indictment charges MILLHOUSE and HAWKINS with committing an armed bank robbery at the East River Bank in Philadelphia on May 1, 2006 in which $20,743 was taken. It also charges both defendants with committing an armed robbery of a Wine and Spirits store just prior to the bank robbery, at which money and two bottles of liquor were taken. The indictment further charges MILLHOUSE alone with committing three other bank robberies: an unarmed robbery of First Penn Bank, 1632 Walnut St., Philadelphia, on March 28, 2006 (with a loss of $1,105), an unarmed robbery of Citizens Bank, 5801 Ridge Ave., Philadelphia on April 18, 2006 (with a loss of $741), and an armed robbery of Citizens Bank, 1201 Spring Garden St., Philadelphia, on May 18, 2006 (at which $3,546 was taken). In each robbery where a firearm was used in the robbery, the use of that firearm is charged as a separate count.
