June 1, 2006 - United States Attorney Patrick L. Meehan today announced the filing of an Information* against Anthony Tijo, a/k/a “Tony”charging him with false statements in a matter within the jurisdiction of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (“ICE”) (formerly known as United States Immigration and Naturalization Service (“INS”) ), in that defendant Anthony Tijo, a/k/a “Tony,” caused to be made a false claim for political asylum on behalf of another person. It is charged the defendant did this for the payment of $1,120.

This case was investigated by the United State Immigration and Customs Enforcement (formerly known as United States Immigration and Naturalization Service). If convicted, defendant faces a maximum of 5 years of imprisonment and a substantial fine.
