October 17, 2006 - PHILADELPHIA – United States Attorney Patrick L. Meehan today announced the filing today of an Indictment* against defendant Percival Thomas, an alien and a native and citizen of Jamaica, charging him with one count of re-entry after deportation from the United States, knowingly and unlawfully attempting to reenter the United States on September 27, 2006 through the Philadelphia International Airport, without first applying to the United States Attorney General or his successor, the Secretary for Homeland Security, for permission to reapply for admission.

If convicted the defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of 20 years imprisonment, a 3-year period of supervised release, a $250,000 fine, and a special assessment of $100.

The case was investigated by the United States Department of Homeland Security and has been assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Peter D. Hardy.
